| Blond Brownies - Cookie Bar Recipe |

| Blond Brownies
1 cup sifted cake flour
½ tsp double acting baking powder
1/8 tsp soda
½ tsp salt
½ cup chopped nutmeats
1/3 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 tsp vanilla
½ pkg. chocolate chips
Sift flour once and measure; add baking powder, soda and salt. Sift again. Add nuts and mix well. Set mixture aside
Melt butter in saucepan; remove from heat. Add brown sugar and mix well. Cool slightly. Add egg and vanilla; blend. Add flour mixture, a small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition. Turn into greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top.
Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool in pan, then cut into bars. Makes about 2 dozen bars. |
